Tissue engineering is the science of design and manufacture of new tissues to replace damaged one. The main factors for tissue regeneration are stem cells, growth factors that regulate cellular differentiation and scaffold of extracellular matrix that serves as micro milieu for their growth.
Regenerative endodontics has been defined by Murray et al as biologically based procedures designed to replace damaged structures sucha as dentin, root structures and cells of the pulp dentin complex. the body of knowledge with regards to dental pulp stem cells, the most common growth factors and the scaffolds, and revascularization technique share some features of regenerative tissue engineering.
